I've been making guitars for about 5 years, mostly for fun. This web page contains just a few words to introduce myself and let you know what I'm up to.
For too many years I slaved in the financial world to earn a crust. Feeling more stressed than usual I fancied on the idea of a hobby which would be both challenging and produce something of value (sorry-financial training kicking in I'm afraid). It was now I happened on an evening class where I built a jumbo acoustic guitar. It didn't look particularly good but the sound was phenomenal. There was no intent to make any more instruments but I was totally absorbed — a kind of Zen thing. Now a few instruments later I'm building a jazz archtop guitar which, when finished, will have completed my foundation in acoustic instrument making. The next project will be a classical guitar where I will make jigs, fixtures and various sanding drums and thicknessing sanders. At that point I may consider myself well versed in the luthiers' art.
